A celebration of all things Tolkien. The Festival in the Shire will be the most comprehensive event ever held for Tolkien fans with a conference, a fan exposition of original art, rare books and memorabilia as well as a large festival with stalls and entertainment. Bryn Terfel Scholarship

A very special concert where eight young people will compete for the £4,000 Bryn Terfel Scholarship, each performing a 12 minute programme. The competitors are: Eirlys Myfanwy Davies (Solo); Glesni Fflur (Cerdd Dant Solo); Elgan Llyr Thomas (Solo From Any Musical); Jocelyn Freeman (Instrumental Solo); Ceirios Evans (Folk Song Solo); Teleri Mair Williams (Individual Theatrical Presentation); Elen Gwenllian (Individual Recitation); and Cerian Phillips (Solo Folk Dance). Tickets are £10 each and can be purchased by sending a cheque to Pafiliwn Cenedlaethol Cymru, Pontrhydfendigaid, Ystrad Meurig, SY25 6BB. Please make your cheque payable to 'Digwyddiadau Bont', and if you would like to receive the tickets in the post please enclose a stamped addressed envelope. Alternatively tickets can be bought online through PayPal (There will be an administration fee of £1 per ticket if using PayPal.) Please note that there is no reserved seating.

Jambori yr Urdd

Wednesday 17th November
10.15am & 1.15pm

The Urdd Jambori returns to the National Pavilion in Pontrhydfendigaid on Wednesday 17 November. Gwenda Owen and her Band: Geraint Cynant, Rob Reed, and Aled Richards will perform at the two sessions: 10.15am and 1.15pm. Further details will be available soon.
